The University of Sussex
The University of Sussex (UoS) is a research-intensive university in the UK with strong expertise in ecology, environmental sciences, and biodiversity research. Its work addresses key challenges related to ecosystem functioning, environmental change, and the conservation of species interactions in terrestrial landscapes.
Role within ProPollSoil
Within ProPollSoil, UoS supports the consolidation and synthesis of existing knowledge on soil–pollinator relationships, contributing conceptual and ecological perspectives on species interactions (WP2). UoS contributes to the interpretation of harmonised pan-European monitoring data, by contributing expert knowledge to help soil conditions with pollinator occurrence and behaviour (WP3). The team at UoS further contributes to analyses addressing key knowledge gaps on how soil properties and environmental stressors influence pollinator biology and ecosystem functions (WP4). UoS also supports the interpretation of Case Study Area data to assess real-world impacts of soil management on pollinator health (WP5). UoS contributes to the integration and synthesis of empirical findings into broader threat analyses, supporting the development of evidence-based insights relevant for pollinator conservation and sustainable land management (WP6).
