Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria (UNIRC) is a research-oriented university in Italy with strong expertise in environmental sciences, agriculture, and sustainable land management, with a particular focus on Mediterranean ecosystems. Its research addresses challenges related to soil health, biodiversity conservation, and land-use sustainability in climatically sensitive regions.
Within ProPollSoil, UNIRC supports the synthesis of existing knowledge on soil–pollinator interactions, with particular relevance for Mediterranean agroecosystems (WP2). The university is actively involved in pan-European monitoring activities, contributing to harmonised field data collection and analysis of soil and pollinator parameters (WP3). UNIRC coordinates the Case Study Area (CSA) in Reggio Calabria, Italy, where it leads local fieldwork, data collection, and stakeholder engagement to assess the impacts of soil management and land-use practices on pollinator health (WP5) and contributes to the integration of CSA results into broader threat analyses and supports the development of management and mitigation strategies tailored to Mediterranean conditions.
