Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca (UMIB) is a research-intensive university in Italy, where the Department of Biotechnology and Biosciences is active in many fields, including ecology, environmental sciences, and biodiversity conservation. Its interdisciplinary research addresses key challenges related to ecosystem functioning, land use, and the impacts of environmental change on biological communities.
Within ProPollSoil, UMIB supports the synthesis of existing knowledge on soil–pollinator relationships, contributing insight into below- and above-ground ecological processes (WP2). UMIB is involved in pan-European monitoring activities, supporting the collection and analysis of harmonised soil and pollinator data across Case Study Areas, by leading the project’s Case Study Area (CSA) in Milano, Italy, coordinating field activities and stakeholder engagement at the local level (WP3). UMIB also plays a key role in the interpretation of Case Study Area data, assessing how soil management practices influence pollinator diversity in several land-use contexts (WP5).
