Universiteit Gent
Universiteit Gent (Ghent University) is a leading research-intensive university in Belgium with strong expertise in environmental sciences, ecology, and biodiversity research. Its work addresses key challenges related to ecosystem functioning, land-use sustainability, and the impacts of environmental change on biological communities.
Role within ProPollSoil
Within ProPollSoil, the ecological entomology group at Ghent University supports the synthesis of existing knowledge on soil–pollinator interactions, contributing insights into below- and above-ground ecological linkages (WP2). UGhent contributes to the interpretation of harmonised pan-European monitoring data, helping to link soil properties and environmental pressures with pollinator communities (WP3). The group contributes strongly analyses addressing (WP4). The group supports the analysis and interpretation of Case Study Area data to assess the impacts of soil management practices on pollinator health (WP5) and contributes to the integration of empirical results into broader threat analyses and modelling efforts, supporting the development of evidence-based mitigation and management recommendations (WP6).
