Institut de Recherche pour le Développement

IRD – Institut de Recherche pour le Développement is a French public research organisation with internationally recognised expertise in environmental sciences, ecology, and sustainable development. Its research focuses on understanding ecological processes and environmental change, particularly in the context of land use, climate variability, and biodiversity conservation.

Role within ProPollSoil

Within ProPollSoil, the evolution, genomes, behaviour and ecology group (EGCE) supports the synthesis of existing knowledge on soil–pollinator interactions, contributing ecological and biogeographical perspectives (WP2). EGCE is actively involved in pan-European monitoring activities, contributing to the collection and interpretation of harmonised soil and pollinator data (WP3). EGCE contributes to analyses addressing key knowledge gaps on how soil conditions and environmental pressures influence pollinator biology and functioning (WP4). EGCE plays a leading role by coordinating the French Case Study Area in Île-de-France, where it leads local fieldwork, data collection, and stakeholder engagement to assess the impacts of soil management and land-use practices on pollinator health (WP5). EGCE further contributes to the integration of CSA and experimental results into broader threat analyses and modelling activities, supporting the development of evidence-based mitigation and management recommendations (WP6).
