Aarhus Universitet

Aarhus Universitet (AU) is a leading research university with strong expertise in environmental sciences, agriculture, and sustainability. Within AU, the Department of Agroecology – Agricultural Biodiversity focuses on understanding how agricultural systems can support biodiversity while maintaining productive and resilient land use.

Role within ProPollSoil

Within the ProPollSoil project, AU coordinates the consolidation and synthesis of existing knowledge on the biology, ecology, and threats affecting soil-dependent pollinators, including the integration of scientific literature, databases, and expert knowledge (WP2). Additionally, AU contributes to the interpretation of harmonised pan-European monitoring data, linking soil properties and land-use patterns with pollinator traits and distributions (WP3). AU supports analyses addressing key knowledge gaps on how soil conditions and management influence pollinator biology and functioning (WP4). AU also contributes to the interpretation of Case Study Area data to assess the impacts of soil management practices on pollinator health in agricultural landscapes (WP5) and supports the integration of empirical findings into broader threat analyses and modelling efforts, contributing to the development of evidence-based mitigation and management recommendations (WP6).
